BiographySandra is a medical statistician with research interests in cluster randomised trials, pragmatic trials, and pilot and feasibility studies. She has published many papers on cluster randomised trials and, together with Sally Kerry, wrote the book "A practical guide to cluster randomised trials in health services research". She led the work on the CONSORT extension for pilot and feasibility studies, and on the new Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool for cluster randomised trials. She is Director of the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit at Queen Mary and has led the statistical aspects of many trials and other well designed studies. Most of her collaborative research had been based in primary care, and between 2007 and 2017 she was joint Centre lead of the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health. In 2015 she was awarded honorary fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners in recognition of her contribution to the work of the College. She has served on several NIHR funding panels and currently sits on the HTA panel. She is also lead of the east London arm of NIHR RDS London, and sits on the council of the Royal Statistical Society and the Society for Academic Primary Care Executive, having jointly led an initiative to support non-medical members of the Society over the past five years.
