BiographyIbrahim Abubakar is professor of infectious disease epidemiology, Director of the UCL Institute for Global Health and Honorary Consultant, Medical Directorate, Public Health England. His research interest is focused on the epidemiology and control of diseases affecting vulnerable populations including tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, HIV, hepatitis virus infection and vaccine preventable diseases. He is currently chair of the UCL Lancet Commission on Migration and Health, the WHO Scientific and Technical Advisory Group for TB (STAG TB) and a member of the WHO HIV and Hepatitis advisory group. He is a member on the NIHR HTA Commission Board and was chair of the UK NICE guideline development group for TB. He has published over 200 peer reviewed papers, several book chapters and an infectious disease epidemiology textbook (Oxford Handbook of Infectious Disease Epidemiology).
