BiographyJonathan Sterne is Professor of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology in the University of Bristol School of Social and Community Medicine, UK. He has worked in Bristol since 1999. His research interests include the clinical epidemiology of HIV and AIDS in the era of antiretroviral therapy; meta-analysis and systematic reviews; statistical methods for epidemiology and health services research, in particular methods for causal inference; and the epidemiology of asthma and allergic diseases. He started his research career at the MRC Dental Research Unit in London. He then worked on leprosy, tuberculosis and HIV at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and on asthma and allergic disease at King’s College London. He is co-author of Essential Medical Statistics, published by Wiley.
