BiographyElizabeth Kuipers is a Professor of clinical psychology in the department of Psychology, the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London. Her research in psychosis spans nearly 30 years of applying research ideas to clinical settings in the NHS. Initially she was involved with Professors Leff & Lam in developing and evaluating psychological interventions for families, and subsequently with Professors Garety, Fowler, Bebbington and Dunn in developing and evaluating cognitive behavioural interventions for individuals with psychosis.  The five randomised controlled trials she has completed in family work and cognitive behavioural treatments for psychosis have been used to develop NICE Guidelines for Schizophrenia and the current update (2009). This evidence has been responsible for changes in practice in the UK, where offering talking therapies for those with psychosis is now required in NHS adult mental health services. Elizabeth Kuipers published as Liz Kuipers prior to 1995.  Link to profile at the Institute of Psychiatry
