BiographyNigel Bundred is Professor of Surgical Oncology and Consultant Surgeon at the University Hospital of South Manchester and Christie Hospital, Manchester. He is Clinical R&D lead for the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer Research Network.  He has research interests in pre-invasive cancer (ductal carcinoma in situ), breast cancer chemoprevention and innovations in service delivery. His research in Manchester was recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons of England when he was appointed a Hunterian Professorship in 1995.  Professor Bundred has a large clinical commitment in the Manchester Breast Centre, the largest unit in the United Kingdom. He is a member of several medical societies and has been awarded numerous honours including a Patey Prize and Ronald Raven Award. Professor Bundred has authored or co-authored over 160 peer reviewed articles and his work has appeared in many journals, including the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, The Lancet, Cancer Research and Cancer.  He is Chief Investigator on several preoperative DCIS trials both nationally and internationally.
