BiographyCharles Pusey is Professor of Medicine and Head of Postgraduate Medicine at Imperial College London, Honorary Consultant in Renal Medicine and Transplantation and Director of Education at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Professor Pusey’s main research interest is immunologically mediated renal disease, including systemic vasculitis and Goodpasture’s disease. This work has led to an increased understanding of the immune mechanisms underlying these disorders and to the development of improved methods for diagnosis and treatment. He played a leading role in multi-centre European trials of treatment in systemic vasculitis, which have influenced clinical practice worldwide.  Committed to developing translational research, and as Director of the comprehensive NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Professor Pusey also has a long-standing interest in developing the clinical academic workforce of the future. He leads the Integrated Academic Training Path at Imperial College London and associated NHS Trusts and is Director of the Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD Programme based at Imperial.
