BiographyTom Robinson undertook his medical training in Nottingham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Leicester, and is currently Professor of Stroke Medicine at the University of Leicester. He is also National Specialty Lead for Stroke for the NIHR Clinical Research Network. His own research interests relate to acute stroke, and in particular the control of brain blood flow and the management of blood pressure changes. He has undertaken a number of clinical trials, which have resulted in changes to international guidelines in how blood pressure is managed after acute stroke and clot-busting treatment for stroke; improving outcomes for stroke patients. He also has roles in training the next generation of stroke clinicians, as Chair of the Stroke Medicine Specialty Advisory Committee, and has supervised many under-and postgraduate students in stroke research. He supports the work of the Stroke Association as a Trustee.
