BiographyProfessor Chris Salisbury is GP, Professor and head of the Centre for Academic Primary Care at the University of Bristol. He conducts research on core values of general practice such as access to care, generalism, continuity of care, and the doctor-patient relationship. He has expertise in conducting mixed methods evaluations of new models of care, often based on randomised controlled trials with nested process and economic evaluation. He has published about 160 research papers and 5 books on topics such as GP out-of-hours care, NHS walk-in centres, access to general practice, the role of telehealth and multimorbidity. Professor Salisbury is a board member for the NIHR Health Service & Delivery Research programme and the NIHR School for Primary Care Research. He is also chair of the RCGP Scientific Foundation Board and the RCGP Research Paper of the Year Award Panel. He continues to work as a part-time GP in a deprived area of Bristol.
