BiographyIrwin Nazareth is a Professor of Primary care and Population Sciences at UCL and the Director of the UCL Priment Clinical Trials Unit. He is an academic General Practitioner whose research focusses on primary care mental health and the management of smoking cessation, obesity and addiction disorders in the community. His methodological expertise lies in the design and evaluation of complex interventions and the use of large clinical databases such CPRD and THIN for epidemiological, aetiological and health service research. His programmes of research have been funded by MRC, the Wellcome Trust, Cancer Research UK, the European Commission and the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). His international research interests include research on primary care and mental health in Europe, India, South Africa and China. He is the Chair of the Health Education England and NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship Committee and is also a member of the NIHR Health Technology Assessment Commissioned Research Board and the Indian Alliance Wellcome Trust Department of Business and Technology Board.
