BiographyTheresa Marteau is Director of the Behaviour and Health Research Unit, the DH Policy Research Unit on Behaviour and Health, at the University of Cambridge. She is also Director of Studies for Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at Christ's College, Cambridge. She studied psychology at the London School of Economics, and the University of Oxford. Her research interests include: i. the development and evaluation of interventions to change behaviour (principally diet, physical activity, tobacco and alcohol consumption), primarily targeting non-conscious processes, to improve population health and reduce health inequalities; ii. risk perception and communication particular of biomarker-derived risks, and their weak links with behaviour change iii. the role of evidence in policies aimed at changing behaviour. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and of the Academy of Social Sciences.
