BiographyJohn Brazier is Professor of Health Economics in the School of Health and Related Research at the University of Sheffield.  He works on economic evaluations of health care interventions alongside clinical trials and decision analytic models with a view to informing health care decision makers. He has a particular interest in the assessment of the benefits of health care and he leads a programme of work concerned with the development, testing and use of measures of patient health and well-being (including patient reported outcome measures) in informing resource allocation.  Over more than 20 years he has provided advice to the NHS and was a member of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) Technology Appraisal Committee from 2000-04. He is Director of the DH Policy Research Unit in Economic Evaluation of Health and Care Interventions.
