BiographyCharles Wolfe is Professor of Public Health and Head of theDivision of Health and Social Care at King's College Hospital London and Director of R&D at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Professor Wolfe heads a multidisciplinary Stroke Research Group at KCL and runs the South London Stroke Register. The Register is population-based and has enabled the epidemiology of stroke in a multi-ethnic population to be quantified. The Register is also used for epidemiological, health economic, anthropological and policy-related research; it has informed the national stroke strategy. As Director of R&D, Professor Wolfe was involved in the development of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NIHR Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre, the King’s Patient Safety and Service Quality Centre, and is particularly interested in applied research training. He chairs the London regional funding committee of the NIHR Research for Patient Benefit Programme, is a member of the Stroke Association R&D committee and the NHS Confederation HSR Board.
