BiographyNeil Poulter is Professor of Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine and Director of the International Centre for Circulatory Health, Imperial College London and ex-President of the British Hypertension Society. Published work of over 250 scientific publications include:co-authorship of the1998 and 2005 Joint British Recommendations on Prevention of CHD; 2003 WHO-ISH Statement on management of hypertension; 2003 ESH-ESC Guidelines for the management of arterial hypertension; and2004 BHS Guidelines for management of hypertension. Research activities include the investigation and management of hypertension, dyslipidaemia and diabetes and prevention of type 2 diabetes. Neil Poulter was also Director of Operations in the UK of the ASCOT trial, the results of which have been incorporated into British and other national guidelines for optimal CVD prevention in hypertensive patients.
