BiographyJohn Yarnold is Professor of Clinical Oncology at the Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden Hospital. His primary research interests relate to the role of radiation therapy in the curative treatment of patients with breast cancer, playing a leading role in clinical trials and translational research. He is chief investigator of the UK national START, FAST, IMPORT LOW, IMPORT HIGH and FAST FORWARD randomised trials evaluating new radiotherapy dose regimens and applications of intensity modulated radiotherapy. He leads translational research into the genetic and molecular basis of radiation effects in normal and malignant tissues. He is a past chairman on the UKCCCR (now the National Cancer Research Institute) Breast Clinical Studies Group.
