BiographyRichard Baker is Professor of Quality in Healthcare and Head of the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Leicester. Graduating from London's Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1975, he is a General Practitioner with a part-time commitment in an inner-city group practice in Leicester (1992-).  He was Director of the NIHR CLAHRC for Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland 2008-13.Research interests have focused on the quality of healthcare, in particular the following fields:patients' experiences of care, including development of measures and patients’ experiences of access and continuity in primary care; methods of translating research evidence into improved health, including the development of new approaches to implementation and translation, and their investigation in different types of studies; andpatient safety and the regulation of health professionals, including methods to reduce the risk of serious adverse events.
